Healthy Kennel Kitchen

In the late 1960s and early 70s, organic and all natural foods were becoming common place in human diets (Healthy Chef Creations, 2001). As we became more aware of what we were putting into our own bodies, it seemed only natural that we began to consider what we were feeding our pets. Healthy Kennel Kitchen's blog contained of health nutrition to the dogs. It is suitable for new and existing dog owners too. Beside that, this blog is suitable for the first time baker because this blog will provide baking information too. This blog is to encourage dog owners to bake the healthy food to their dog. Dog owner allow to view and follow the health recipes. Beside that, dog owners able to share their opinions and experiences. This blog is not only allow to share the pet's health knowledges, but other topics that related to the pets. A happy pets come from a healthy pets. To ensure the pets healthy, the best way is to feeding them a healthy diet (Rees and Schlanger, 2008).

Biography

My name is Goh Wah Thye, Zack. I graduated from Curtin University with Bachelor of Arts (Design). I used to work in an advertising agency and as a freelancer before i decided to continue with my Master Degree at Multimedia University. I am into travel, IT gadgets, pets and photography. Max is my lovely companion dog. He is a Bernese Mountain Dog. It is a rare breed in Malaysia. He is huge and stocky weighing about 45 kgs. Many people who not familiar with this breed thought he is fierce because of his huge size. But really he as friendly as Border Collie and as smart and active as Golden Retriver. I always baked treats for my dog because i want to make sure anything he eat will be the best and less preservative. This blog contained all the research information that i found. I share it because, i hope the other dog owners will do the same thing with me to make sure their dog in good health.

Food as medicine has always been an important part of treating health issues in humans and it is no different with canines. The recipes can assist in treating dry skin, in freshening stale breath and even in warding off fleas.

Salmon Treats
These treats have the wonderful flavour of salmon that dogs enjoy and also contain omega-3 and omega-6 essential fatty acids to assist with dry skin.

8 oz Salmon
1/2 cup Fresh parsley
2 Eggs
2 tbsp Flaxseed Oil
3 cups Whole-wheat flour

1. Place all ingredients in food processor and blend to a stiff dough.
2. Place on floured counter and roll out, about 1/2 inch/ 1 cm thick. Cut out shapes with desired cookie cutter.
3. Bake at Gas 5 for 30 minutes, or until cookies are crisp.


Breath Cookies
A great treat that your dog will love eating and which will bring the benefit of fresher breath. The parsley is rich in chlorophyll, a natural breath freshener and the mint aids digestion.

3 tbsp Vegetable Oil
1 Egg
1/2 cup Fresh Mint
1/2 cup Fresh Parsley
2/3 cup milk
2 cups Brown Rice Flour

1. Combine all and which together.
2. Blend in flour slowly and beat until stiff dough is formed.
3. Place on floured counter and roll out, about 1/2 inch/ 1 cm thick. Cut out shapes with desired cookie cutter.
4. Bake at Gas 4 for 30 minutes, or until cookies are crisp.


Anti Flea Cookies
THese biscuit are flavoured with beef stock and fresh garlic which contains allicin, an antibiotic and anti fungal. It has also been reported to be natural flea preventikon method.

2 cups Whole-wheat flour
1 cup Oatmel
2 cloves Garlic
2 tbsp Olive oil
1 cup Beef stock

1. Blend wheat flour, oatmeal and garlic together.
2. Add oil and beef stock to form a stiff dough.
3. Place on floured counter and roll out, about 1/2 inch/ 1 cm thick. Cut out shapes with desired cookie cutter.
4. Bake at Gas 5 for 25 minutes, or until cookies are crisp.

Honey Oat Cookies
Dogs on vegetarian diets will find that these treats fit their need for a snack. Honey is a natural antiseptic while raw honey contains pollen and may help dogs with pollen-based allergies.

1 cup Oatmeal
1 1/2 cups Whole-wheat flour
1/2 cup Honey
1/2 cup Water
1/2 tbsp Cinnamon

1. Mix oatmeal and whole-wheat flour together.
2. Blend honey, water and cinnamon and slowly mix with dry ingredients.
3. Place on floured counter and roll out, about 1/2 inch/ 1 cm thick. Cut out shapes with desired cookie cutter.
4. Bake at Gas 4 for 20 minutes, or until cookies are crisp.


Liver Brownies
The ingredients in these delicious brownies should not create a spike in the blood sugar, making them a perfect treat for dogs that sensitive to glucose.

1/2 cup Whole-wheat flour
2 Eggs
1 1/2 lb Liver

1. Puree all ingredients together in a food processor.
2. Pour into a greased square pan.
3. Bake at Gas 4 for 30 minutes, or until cookies are crisp.


Veggie Rice
These drop cookies are wheat free and corn free and the fresh carrot supply the system with essential nutrients. Low in calories, carrot contain fiber to aid digestion.

1/2 cup Powdered milk
1 cup Vegetable Stock
4 cups Rice flour
2 cups Shredded carrots

1. Blend all ingredients together well.
2. Drop tablespoons of the mixture onto cookie sheet.
4. Bake at Gas 4 for 30 minutes, or until done.

Low Fat Chic-Bean Cookies
The flavour of chicken and green beans will make these low calori cookies a favourite with your dog. High in fiber and with vitamin A and C, they are healthy too.

3 1/2 cups Whole-wheat flour
1 cup Cornmeal
1/4 cup Skim milk
3/4 cup Chicken stock
1/2 cup Green Bean (puree)

1. Blend what flour and cornmeal together. Set aside.
2. Whisk together milk, stock and green bean puree.
3. Slowly add flour mixture to bean mixture until a stiff dough is formed.
4. Place on floured counter and roll out, about 1/2 inch/ 1 cm thick. Cut out shapes with desired cookie cutter.
5. Bake at Gas 4 for 35 minutes, or until cookies are crisp.

2 tbsp Gonger
4 cups Whole-wheat flour
2 tbsp Cinnamon
1/2 cup Water
1/2 cup Molasses

1. Blend ginger, flour and cinnamon.
2. Add water and molasses to flour mixture to form a stiff dough.
3. Place on floured counter and roll out, about 1/2 inch/ 1 cm thick. Cut out shapes with desired cookie cutter.
4. Bake at Gas 4 for 25 - 30 minutes, or until cookies are crisp.


Sunflower Power Cookies
High in carbohydrates and protein, these tasty treats are good for times when a boost is needed. This sunflower meal is mineral rich including zinc, which helps to keep skin healthy.

1 cup Oat bran flour
1/2 cup Whole-wheat flour
1/4 cup Wheat herm
1/2 cup Oatmeal
2 tbsp Molasses
1/2 cup Sunflower meal
3/4 cup Water

1. Blend oat bran flour, whole-wheat flour, wheat germ and oatmeal together.
2. Mix in molasses, sunflower meal and water. Blend well.

1 1/2 cups Beef Stock
1/2 cup Powdered milk
1 cup Oatmeal
1/2 cup Parmesan Cheese
2 tbsp Vegetable Oil
2 cups Whole-wheat flour

1. Pour beef stock over oatmeal and leave it for 5 minutes.
2. Stir in powdered milk and add parmesan cheese and also oil.
3. Add flour and knead 3 to 4 minutes.
4. Place on floured counter and roll out, about 1/2 inch/ 1 cm thick. Cut out shapes with desired cookie cutter.
5. Bake at Gas 4 for 30 minutes, or until cookies are crisp.


Minty Treats
A whole-grain cookie with mint to aid digestion and blackstrap molasses for healthy coat. The fresh mint gives fresh breath, stimulates the digestive juices and can relieve colic.

4 cups Whole-wheat flour
3/4 Fresh Mint
4 tbsp Vegetable Oil
4 tbsp Molasses
1/2 cup Water

1. Blend wheat flour and chopped mint.
2. Add remaining ingredient and mix well to blend.
3. Place on floured counter and roll out, about 1/2 inch/ 1 cm thick. Cut out shapes with desired cookie cutter.
4. Bake at Gas 4 for 30 minutes, or until cookies are crisp.
